Court rejects D bros' 'discharge' pleas

PNS

A lower court here on Friday rejected the discharge petitions filed by arrested mafia D brothers, Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamant. Implicated in three separate cases under the Arms Act, the brothers had preferred to file discharge petitions under Section 239 of CrPC. In their petitions, the D brothers, who were arrested in January 2016, had pleaded innocent of the charges under the Arms Act levelled against them claiming that they have been framed by the Commissionerate police with false charges. SDJM Bijay Kumar Dash, however, rejected all the petitions of the brother duo and fixed November 20 to frame charges against them. The charges will be framed under Section 25 (1-B) of the Arms Act and trial will commence soon after that. Notably, after the arrest of the brothers, the police had nabbed some of their associates and huge caches of arms and ammunitions were seized from them. The police claim that the associates have confessed that the firearms were supplied to them by the D brothers.
