In a bid to curb extortion from traders and businessmen by anti-socials in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack ahead of the puja season, the Commissionerate police would launch a drive ‘Say No To Extortion”.
Briefing mediapersons here, Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi on Friday said the initiative would begin on October 19. A special anti-extortion task force headed by Additional CP Rekha Lohani would be formed.
“Names of the people informing about extortion will be kept secret and they will also be awarded. We seek people’s cooperation, without which initiative will not be successful,” Sarangi added.
