Cops get 7-day remand of key conspirators

PNS

The SDJM Court here allowed the Ganjam police to take the two conspirators on seven-day remand for further interrogation in connection with brutal murder of Chhatrapur councilor laxmidutta Pradhan.

The accused will be taken on remand from October 31.

The two key conspirators, Krushna Chandra Nayak and Duryodhan Reddy, were arrested by the Ganjam police from Uttarakhand on Saturday.

Following arrest of prime accused Nayak, he revealed in a video the name of BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra, who had allegedly helped him to hide in Uttarakhand after the murder. This has given ammunition to the opposition parties particularly the BJD to target BJP.

However, Mohapatra in a Press conference in Bhubaneswar on Sunday refuted all the allegations. He said as he is the party’s Ganjam observer many people call him. He doesn’t know all of them personally. The BJP doesn’t believe in criminal activities. The BJD is jittery due to BJP’s inroads into the district. Besides, the BJP had targeted the district police for which a conspiracy has been hatched to malign his party and him, Mohapatra said.

He further said how police released the video which is against the law. The police did not bring into purview of investigations, the persons, who are accused by laxmidutta’s mother to be involved in her son’s slaying.  He demanded for a CBI probe or an investigation supervised by a Orissa High Court Judge into the incident to unravel the truth and he is ready to face any kind of inquiry.
