The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has sought an action-taken report (ATR) from the Jajpur Superintendent of Police over police torture within four weeks. According to petitioner Sangita Swain Tamaka police station IIC Purna Chandra Patayat and his team beat black and blue and even kneel down four persons, including Sumanta Sekhar
laha, Prafulla Kumar Swain, Bibhas Kumar Sahu, Ashwini Kumar Das as one of them called them as ‘petu’ while the police personnel were playing in a field in Tamaka area. She prayed the commission to initiate criminal action against the concerned police officials, besides urging it to facilitate a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the victims.
