Twin city Commissioner of Police YB Khurania on Monday directed DCP Satyabrata Bhoi to conduct an investigation into the alleged misbehaviour to servitors by a policeman on duty at the lingaraj Temple, the video of which was telecast by a television channel.
“I have seen the video. Misbehaviour to temple servitors is unfortunate. I have directed the DCP to conduct a thorough probe,” Khurnia told reporters. He said stringent action would be taken against those found guilty during the probe.
Notably, the temple’s priests had alleged that a constable abused them in filthy language. A video containing the spat between them has gone viral in social networking sites.
The servitors alleged that the constable deployed at the sanctum sanctorum passed derogatory remarks at them on Saturday.
“He abused many devotees in the recent past as well,” alleged servitors demanding action against the cop. Meanwhile, the constable was removed from his duty at the temple.
