A Constable of the Commissionerate police (CP), who was earlier arrested on charges of drugs peddling in Bhubaneswar, was dismissed from service on Thursday.
City DCP Anup Sahoo dismissed Constable Janaki Ballabha Bharimalla following an inquiry into the allegations.
The accused constable, Bharimalla who is cooling his heels behind bars, was arrested by the Nayapalli police on November 13. Reports Bhairmalla was accused of peddling brown sugar in different parts of the city.
Preliminary probe reveal that Bharimalla used to lead a lavish lifestyle and his picture of riding a cruise motorcycle had also gone viral on social media. Notably, the accused constable was earlier arrested in 2015 in connection with a kidnapping and murder case. But he was later acquitted due to lack of evidence following which he re-joined the service.
