In a shocking incident, an OAPF constable was found dead in a pool of blood with bullet piercing mark on body at RN High School premises under Rajkanika police station on Tuesday wee hours. Police also seized the service riffle issue to him near the body.
The deceased was identified as Surendra Kanhar (26), son of Satyeswar Kanhar of Kendusahi under Tikabali PS of Kandhamal district. The deceased was deployed under Rajkanika police station to maintain law and order and was staying at RN High school camp. Police after seizing the body sent it for autopsy to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Kanhar is suspected to have committed suicide by shooting himself with the help of the 303 riffle issued to him. The deceased might have committed suicide after losing his mental balance due to failure in love, informed Kendrapada SDPO Kedarnath Sahu.
