The body of a man was found hanging at the Reserve Police campus here near the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Binod Senapati, who was working as a cook at the Reserve Police camp. However, it was not yet known whether the death was a suicide or a murder.
Police have started an investigation and sent the body for postmortem.
Sources said Senapati’s inmates had seen him asleep at 1 am. But at around 1.20 am, he was found kneeling down under a tree. Inmates immediately rushed him to the Capital Hospital, where he was declared dead.
A case of unnatural death was registered at the Saheed Nagar police station.
Sources said Senapati had undergone heart surgery a few days back. Besides, he had family problems, for which he was mentally upset.
The autopsy report and statement of family members would give a clear picture about Senapati’s death, police said.
