In order to revive the Congress party in Odisha and to find out reasons behind party’s poll debacle, All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader AK Antony held talks with 12 party leaders from the State in New Delhi on Sunday.
Antony had one to one meeting with 12 leaders from the State. During the discussions it was decided to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and to give due importance to party workers.
“Though there was no discussion about leadership change in the meeting, yet there might be change in the PCC leadership after due consultation with leaders of the State. But we have decided to work for the party together and strengthen the organisational structure of the party,” said former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik.
It was scheduled earlier that 16 PCC leaders to attend the review meeting. Four leaders, inclulding Hemananda Biswal, Kanhu lenka and Narasingha Mishra, did not attend the meeting.
During the meeting the PCC leaders said that delay in candidate selection and weak campaign were the reasons behind the party’s poll debacle in the State.
