The Congress on Thursday knocked at the door of the Governor demanding an impartial inquiry into the alleged harassment to women professors at the Ravenshaw University by their male counterparts.
A delegation of 10 Congress activists of Cuttack led by Suresh Mahapatra and Bijaylaxmi Sahu met Governor SC Jamir here at the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to him demanding strong action against the persons involved in the harassment case.
“The Governor agreed to intervene into the matter and assured that he will talk to the Vice-Chancellor in this regard,” said Mohapatra.
“We demand proper steps in the case. It is hampering the image of the prestigious Ravenshaw university. The Governor assured us to do the needdful,” added Bijaylaxmi Sahu
Three women professors of the Ravenshaw University have been alleging harassment by their male colleagues. However, the three lady professors did not appear before the fact finding committee constituted by the VC for their deposition. The aggrieved teachers have been demanding a Crime Branch probe into their allegation alleging that the members of the fact finding team too were involved in harassment to them.
