Alleging complete failure in providing basic civic amenities, massive corruption in awarding tenders, breakdown in administration and uncaring attitude in removing waterlogging, Congress workers under the leadership of party Cuttack chief Md Moqim staged a protest before the office of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Monday.
“We demand immediate removal of the Mayor and transfer of the CMC Commissioner for their all-round failure,” said Moqim. The woes of the residents have multiplied due to the poor and unscientific execution of the JICA-funded drainage and sewerage projects, he said.
He further alleged that there have been widespread corruptions and irregularities in the award of tenders by the civic body, following which the State Government has apparently cancelled several tenders floated by the civic body during last six months.
