The Congress on Friday brought a privilege motion in the State Assembly against Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy allegedly for providing incomplete information to the House on farmers’ suicide.
As per information provided by the party, Maharathy skipped certain portions from the report that contained the outcomes of the field investigation while addressing the Assembly.
“On Thursday evening a report was telecast in a television channel that showcased the way the Government has hidden facts from the public on farmer suicide. A portion of the copy that is sent to the SRC (Special Relief Commissioner) was blanked out. We brought a privilege motion today on this context,” said Naba Kishore Das from Congress while speaking to reporters outside the Assembly.
Ruling BJD, however, refuted the charges leveled by Das and clarified that the issue was caused because of a photocopying error.
