Odisha Congress leaders and family members of the Kunduli Dalit girl Sushmita, who committed suicide after being allegedly gangraped last year, staged a demonstration at Parliament Street in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Backed by Koraput Congress MlA Krushna Chandra Sargaria and former MP Pradeep Majhi, the family of the victim held a dharna alleging injustice and laxity by the Odisha Government in probing the case.
Sagaria demanded a CBI probe into the incident alleging that the State Government is trying to suppress the issue.
The 14-year-old school girl, who was allegedly gangraped by four Central Paramilitary force personnel on October 10, 2017, had subsequently committed suicide at her residence on January 23, 2018.
The girl had earlier alleged that she was gangraped by four persons in combat fatigues in a forest near Kunduli.
“We are demanding a CBI probe as the Odisha Government has failed to provide justice to my daughter,” said mother of the girl. We would also meet the President on the issue, she added.
The Congress leaders alleged that the family has completely lost faith on the investigations by the Odisha police.
