Cong holds demo, demands rollback of notice

PNS

State Congress spokesperson advocate Pitabash Panda demanded for immediate rollback of a notification issued by the authorities of Berhampur University for closure of admission into LLM course at the LR Law College.

Hundreds of Youth Congress workers led by Panda staged  demonstration here on Thursday against the admission closure decision of the university on the sheer pretext of non-availability of faculty members.

“Let the Chief Minister, the elected representatives and the State Higher Education Minister resign on moral grounds, if they are unable to provide faculty members to run the course in the prestigious and premier college of south Odisha,” said Panda.

Panda further said that LR Law College is a premier institution in law not just in south Odisha but in neighbouring AP. It was named after former Chief Justice of Orissa HC, former Speaker of Assembly and first Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University Justice Lingaraj Panigrahi and established in 1968. The LLM course was started in the college in 1995.

Later, a delegation led by Panda submitted a memorandum for consideration.
