Odisha  Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president  Niranjan  Patnaik  at a  Press conference here on Friday criticised  the State Government on the formation  of  the Biju Yuva Vahini  and said the  “taxpayers money is being spent for political purposes”.

Patnaik said the Biju Yuva Vahini is a Government-sponsored political programme of the BJD. More than 1,000 youths are working for the election campaign of the BJD. In fact, there is no difference between the BJD and the Biju Yuva Vahini.

He said as the Biju Yuva Vahini is a Government organisation there should be reservation for SC, ST , women and the Divyang youths. But unfortunately the Odisha Reservation and Vacancies (ORV) Act has been violated and 40 per cent of SC, ST and other youths of the State have been deprived of recruitment. The National Commission for Scheduled Castes has asked the State Government to comply with the allegations.

Patnaik further said the Congress condemns the State Government’s attitude and demands inclusion of SC, ST and Diyang youths in the recruitment drive for the Biju Yuva Vahini.
