PNS

Congress rubbished the charges slapped against eight party activists by the Athagarh tehsildar and demanded withdrawal of the cases against them and their immediate release.

Tehsildar Umakant Raj had lodged an FIR against the Congress workers alleging that they had ransacked his office and smashed furniture during the Congress sponsored bandh.

Police arrested one Ashok Dalei and forwarded him to court on Wednesday. After his bail was rejected, he was sent to the Choudwar jail.

Youth Congress vice president Soubhagya Samanta and others here said that the cases against the party workers were fabricated. Samanta questioned as to why the tehsildar was present in the office when the bandh was being held.

The Congress alleged the computer which was damaged was loaded with some documents relating to land scam.
