Balangir district Mahila Congress president Milani Sahu is the party’s Chairperson candidate for the Balangir Municipality. This was announced to media by Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Samarendra Mishra on Saturday.
Mishra said Sahu’s experience as a Councillor and chief of the district Mahila Congress would help her fight the election in an effective way. And if she wins, she would be able to form the council and serve the people in a better way than many others.
“After 2014, a lot of development works has been undertaken in Balangir under the leadership of local MLA Narasingha Mishra. To continue the process of development, we appeal to people to vote for Congress for a new and better Balangir,” Mishra said.
Milani Sahu told reporters, "I shall work for development and uplifting of downtrodden and weaker sections of people besides carrying out development activities in Balangir."
The names of Congress candidates for different wards of the municipality were also announced by Mishra.
