Pradesh Congress Committee president Jaydev Jena on Saturday urged his party leaders and workers to vow to drive away the “corrupt” BJD Government and help Congress come to power in the State in the 2014 elections.
Jena was addressing party members on the occasion of party’s 128th foundation day at the Congress Bhawan here.
Stating that the Congress-led UPA Government has been providing thousands of crores of rupees for development of the State, Jena said, “The BJD is looting the money instead of spending it for the purpose it is given.”
Terming the Government’s announcement of Rs 100 per-quintal-paddy-bonus for farmers as lollypop, Jena challenged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to prove his clean image by handing over investigation into mining scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He also alleged that women have become very insecure during the BJD Government. “Itishree’s suicidal note proves this,” he said.
Members of Congress Seva Dal sang patriotic songs on the occasion.
Among others, senior leaders Kishore Patel, Sameer Kumar Routray, Sibananda Ray, Sarat Rout, Gurupada Nanda, Ramakant Mishra, Anant Sethy, Suresh Routray, Dr lalatendu Mohapatra and Bijayalakshmi Sahoo were present.
