PNS

The Congress under the leadership of former MP Pradeep Majhi blocked the Umarkote-Jeypore NH for several hours on Tuesday demanding adequate supply of urea.

Majhi demanded immediate release of urea to farmers as it has been their demand since long. After sometimes, the local administration rushed to the spot and assured the agitators to provide fertilisers before July 30.

If the promise was not fulfilled, from Saturday onwards, the Congress will go to streets, disrupting vehicular movement and closing  all business establishments of the district, said Majhi.

Nabarangpur district has seen a shortage of urea since the beginning anf farmers are waiting for urea after transplantation and beausaning of paddy.

While the LAMPs are not being supplied with adequate fertilisers, private dealers are selling urea at inflated prices. It is so because due to lack of administrative control over the dealers, said Majhi.
