The six-hour Odisha Bandh called by the Congress on Monday got a huge response as it affected the normal life in and around Talcher.
Schools, colleges and other educational institutions, banks, petrol pumps, business houses, shops, vegetable markets and Government offices remained closed. Vehicular traffic was also affected and movements of goods and passenger trains were disrupted.The bandh had a big impact on production and inward transportation of coal in the mines of MCL. Operations of industries were severely hit due to the absence of workers.
The bandh was led by senior Congress leader Gyanaranjan Pani, trade union leader Digambar Garanaik, Sarat Chandra Pradhan, Suresh Chandra Behera, Dasarathi Sahoo, Hadibandhu Biswal, Keshab Bhutia, Rajkishore Sahoo, Bajarang Agarwal, Manas Bai, Jinesh Sahoo and Pushpak Swain.
