Alok Jena, an activist who had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on the chit fund issue, on Monday demanded that a polygraph test be conducted on five persons, including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, by a CBI team to get truth about the chit fund operators who were running illegal business in the State.
Addressing a Press meet organised by the Odisha Soochna Adhikar Abhiyan (OSAA) here, Jena took the names of the four other bigwigs alleged to be involved in the scam. They are the relative of Patnaik staying in Delhi, Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) chief Pyarimohan Mohapatra and his advocate Suresh Tripathy and Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma.“If a test is conducted, these five persons will divulge all the details about their involvement in the scam,” Jena said. Jena alleged that Artha Tatwa Group possesses gold worth Rs5,000 crore in 170 lockers in various private banks. “We have all the documents and that will be produced before the CBI Joint Director very soon,”he informed.
He accused Naveen Patnaik and Pyarimohan Mohapatra of having helped the AT Group and the Seashore Group, respectively, to run their businesses in the State. He alleged that Patnaik’s very close relative had helped AT group get gold licence though the SEBI had earlier refused the company’s request to give the licence.
Jena also alleged that the Crime Branch ADG had helped both Patnaik and Mohapatra in giving support to the chit fund companies.
