Girls nowadays not only outshine boys in studies and other fields including Defence and sports, they are also great assets to their families in many other forms of activities.

In a new endeavour, a college girl in Ganjam district has set an example for others of her ilk by helping her father in ploughing farmland to earn the family’s livelihood.

Shivani (17), the youngest daughter of Alekha Chandra Jani of Surangigarh village under Patrapur block in the district, is a Plus Two second year student of the Khariguda Doki Sanyasi College. She now helps her father in agriculture work every morning before going to college.

According to reports, the financial condition of Alekha became poorer after the marriage of his two elder daughters. So, Shivani came forward to help him in every family activity. She took responsibility of the entire family along with continuing her study.

Every day, Shivani goes to farmland and ploughs an acre of land with bullocks. In fact, she helps her father right from ploughing to sowing of seeds and harvesting. She has proved that she is no less than a son to a family.
