The State Government has decided to constitute a four-member committee comprising the district Collector, SP, District Education Officer and Deputy Director of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in each district to take a final decision on the selection of examination centres and take steps to prevent leak of question papers.
The committee would finalise the examination and nodal centres within 15 days while the process would be completed by December 31.
The examination centres where malpractices were reported last year would be excluded from this year’s annual examination centres’ list. Besides, the high schools having a poor record in conducting examinations would not be taken into consideration while choosing examination centres.
According to School and Mass Education Secretary Usha Padhee, from this year, one examination centre in each block would be identified as the nodal centre where the question papers would be stored in the strong room with adequate police security. The headmaster of the concerned school, identified as the nodal centre, would discharge his duty as the superintendent.
The overall examination procedures would be executed under the supervision of the Block Education Officer (BEO). In the Maoist-prone districts, the question papers would be stored either at the tehsil office or the local police station.
The students of most of the high schools would be allowed to appear at the examinations in their own schools. However, in the schools which lack basic infrastructure, the students would have to go to high schools situated within five km.
The department would collect telephone numbers of the superintendents of all examination centres and be in constant touch with them. Besides the nodal centres and schools, the total number of examination centres could be over 2,500, sources in the BSE said.
As decided by the department, question papers would be sent to the examination centres hours before the start of the examination by a special vehicle.
