After almost three months of the formation of new Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), its Council on Friday formed nine standing committees to oversee the civic affairs. The committees had been formed just on the eve of the first Council meeting slated on June 3.
The panels include Taxation, Finance, Accounts; Public Health, Water Supply, Electricity Supply, Drainage, Environment; Public Works, Planning, Development; Education, Recreation, Culture, licence, Appeal, Corporation Establishment, Grievance, Social Justice and Contract Standing Committees.
Except the Contract Standing Committee, all other panels are having seven corporators each as members. The contract committee is having only three corporators as members, informed city Deputy Mayor Ajay Barik, adding that the chairmen of the panels would be selected within a day or two.
