The Odisha Pachhua Barga Bikash Manch in a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday demanded setting up of a commission for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and a 27 per cent reservation for them.
In the letter, the association also mentioned that the Supreme Court and the High Court have directed to provide more than 50 per cent reservation to OBCs in the State but the State Government is adopting a dillydallying attitude to implement it.
The association alleged the OBCs would suffer a lot during the upcoming UlB elections due to the State Government’s lackadaisical attitude vis-à-vis implementation of the court direction.
The Manch demanded that the Government first set up an OBC Commission first and take steps for execution of 27-per cent job reservation in various Government and non-Government institutions and 27-per cent seat reservation for admission into degree, medical and engineering colleges and other technical institutes for OBC candidates.
