Demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the self-immolation of sacked Home Guard Sandip Hati, Youth Congress activists on Monday staged a dharna here.
The Sandip episode exposes the failure of the Home Department, which is under the Chief Minister, said the Congress youths.
Though Sandip had pleaded for his reappointment, the Home Department didn’t listen to his plea, forcing him to immolate himself, they pointed out.
The Youth Congress demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Sandip’s family along with a Government job for a relative. National secretary of Youth Congress Purnachandra Padhi, Tusharkanti Taptasi, Sumrtiranjan lenka, Ranjita Patra, Ajay Kumar Swain, Yarshree Nawab, Shankuna Kar, Jyotiprakash Acharya, Subash Pradhan, Biranchi Barik, Devabrata Mohanty, Rakesh Nayak, Debasis Mohapatra and Jitendra Mallick led the dharna.
