To woo women voters towards the ruling BJD ahead of the panchayat elections, party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced to provide loan to women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) up to Rs 3 lakh at just one-per cent interest.

Addressing a women’s meeting in Keonjhar district, Patnaik said the Mission Shakti programme has brought a silent revolution among women at the grassroots level.

“Women in villages have become messengers of social and economic changes. So, to reduce the loan burden, the State Government has decided to provide loan up to Rs 3 lakh at just 1% interest,” said Patnaik. The CM also laid foundation-stone for the proposed Government medical college in Keonjhar. He also said his Government has reduced the stamp duty to one per cent for women for land registration.
