Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is also the State Home Minister, on Monday expressed happiness over more and more use of scientific aids during investigations by police personnel in detecting several complicated crimes.

Joining the valedictory function of a three-day Police Duty Meet here, Patnaik called upon the police personnel participating in this annual meet to use the knowledge gained from here in their professional fields to the advantage of the citizens.

“I am happy to see the progress made, particularly in the spheres of increasing use of scientific aids, in investigation and inculcation of scientific temper amongst the police personnel,” Patnaik said in the presence of DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma and other officers.

The Chief Minister also appreciated the work of the two young units of the Crime Branch, the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and the Special Task Force (STF), in effectively detecting the economic crimes and organised crimes.

Announcing that more Cyber Crime police stations are in the pipeline, Patnaik said the three sanctioned Cyber Crime police stations at Rourkela, Brahmapur and Sambalpur would be made operational soon in addition to the one already functioning at Cuttack.
