Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated distribution of smart health cards under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana for Puri district at Brahmagiri. As many as 3,40,000 people in the district would get benefit from the programme, which has already rolled up in Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Balangir and Gajapati. Patnaik said development of Puri, the abode of Lord Jagannath, is a sacred responsibility. The people of Puri town are now getting filtered water directly from the tap. "Puri is the first in the country to have such a facility and the people of Puri are getting the same benefits as the people of cities like London and New York," he said. During his visit to the district CM inaugurated laid foundation-stones of projects worth Rs 1,000 crore.
