As the flood situation continued to remain grim on Tuesday in four northern districts with around one lakh people still marooned, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed three of his senior Cabinet colleagues to take position in the three districts most affected by the twin calamities of cyclone and floods to monitor the restoration, relief and rehabilitation works.
Patnaik, who on Monday conducted an aerial survey of the worst cyclone-hit Ganjam and Puri districts, on Tuesday undertook an aerial visit to the flood-affected areas of Baleswar, Mayrubhanj, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts to assess the situation.
Prior to his visit, the Chief Minister asked Panchyati Raj Minister Kalpataru Das to be stationed at Brahmapur to monitor and expedite the relief, restoration and rehabilitation works in the Ganjam.
Similarly, he gave charge of the flood-hit Myarubhanj to Health Minister Damodar Rout, Baleswar district to Agriculture Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.
Patnaik also deployed four senior IAS officers in charge of the Ganjam district to coordinate relief, restoration and rehabilitation works among various departments and agencies.
