In the recent times, due to alleged adamant nature of Dr Basudev Pradhan, former head of Panchakarma Department of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital here, patients have been suffering a lot.
Notably hundreds patients from Bhubaneswar and nearby villages come to the hospital for low cost treatment of a number of serious diseases like arthritis, spondalytis, paralysis and asthama etc. But due to highhandedness of Dr Pradhan, the hospital is itself in a comma now.
Dr Pradhan was transferred to a hospital in Ganjam district in August this year, after a departmental inquiry conducted against him on allegation of sexual abuse to a lady employee of the hospital found him guilty. But, instead of joining his post in Ganjam, Dr Pradhan has managed to bring a stay on his transfer and has refused to hand over charge. He has locked the medicine stores and kept various files and books of the department with him.
As a result, the Panchakarma Department which is instrumental in providing healthcare services to various orthopedic and paralytic patients, is in a limbo. Dr Pradhan, on the other hand, has converted his official chamber in the hospital to a private clinic and treating his old patients, even after, the official hours is over.On being objected, he filed a false FIR in a local police station against a colleague. As a result, nobody dare protest his illegal practices and activities here and every staff here is working under stress and fear.
