At a time when the city police are claiming of keeping a strict vigil on slums, as many nuisance activities take place in these areas. So, women slum dwellers of Salia Sah on Friday gheraoed the Nayapalli police station alleging favouritism towards criminals.
Around 20 women under the banner of the Salia Sahi Mahila Suraksha Mancha gheraoed the police station demanding immediate police action against one Madhaba Nayak, who has been looting and misbehaving with women in the slum repeatedly.
“He has made looting and misbehaving with girls in the slum a regular practice. Though we have been complaining against him with the police no visible action has been taken against him. Every time police arrest him and forwarded to court and later he was released on bail,” said an agitating woman.
The police are not registering strict Sections against him. Getting this type of moral support from the police Madhaba has intensified his illegal activities, alleged the Mancha president. She demanded that the police take immediate step against culprits and arrest Madhaba by clamping Sections of IPC against him.
