A solo photo exhibition ‘Journey through My lens’ by Bijoy Mishra was put up at the lalit Kala Academy in the city. Around 100 photos captured from different States and countries were displayed in the gallery. They highlighted the slum areas of Odisha, Vietnamese fishing clusters and dwellings of the fishing communities in Mumbai. The photographs were broadly landscape centric.

Inaugurating the exhibition, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia said, “All the photos are beautiful here, while each photo speaks a story. A photographer has the expertise to make a thing beautiful or ugly through his lens, but so far as Bijoy Mishra is concerned, he makes every visual, bad or good, attractive.”

The photos are a mixture of art and science, said Sarat Mohapatra, a viewer. “Bijoy was an engineer. So,mind as a technocrat and an artist has gone into the pictures. They reflect his clarity of thought and sense of aesthetics,” he added.

The photography show looked complete in delineating a theme or two. The real picture of Dhobi ghat, Bandra station and the fishing villages of Mumbai have all turned lively and vivacious. They highlight the various moods and moments of a busy city that Mumbai is. At the same time they brought to the fore, the temples and traditional dance poses of Rajastani artistes and sceneries of different locations of Odisha. The photographer’s lens also appropriately captured the beauty of Whidbey Island located in Island County, Washington, Hanoi and HIJ long Bay in Vietnam etc.  Photographer Mishra said, “I have a passion for photography. It took me many parts of the world and made me mix with people of varied customs and cultures. I am giving importance to landscapes in my lens.” Another attraction of the exhibition is that Mishra’s camera, through which he clicked the sceneries, was also displayed. The four-day event will conclude on January 20.
