A group of people here met East Coast Railways (ECoR) General Manager Rajiv Vishnoi at the ECoR headquarters in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday and discussed about the various railway problems in south Odisha.
The delegation, including former Ganjam block chairman Surath Pahan, was headed by leader and former Assembly Deputy Speaker BJP Rama Chandra Panda. Panda, during his last visit to Delhi earlier this week, had submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister of Railways and held a series of discussions with the railway officials for improvement of railway services in south Odisha.
The demands include restoration of previous time schedule for the Palasa-Balugaon Passenger train during odd hours, extension of the Palasa-Bhubaneswar third DMU up to Puri and convert the same train as ‘first passenger’ in order to enable the pilgrims to return home on the same day evening, reconstruction and renovation of industrial passenger halt-station initiated during the British regime, extend of the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar Rajarani Express upto Brahampur to provide direct rail connectivity between Rourkela and Brahmapur, immediate construction of Railway Wagon factory at Sithalapalli village near Jagannathpur, etc.
The ECoR authorities assured the delegation to consider the demands and send the proposals to the Railway Board.
