The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) team of the Crime Branch on Tuesday started an investigation into the Saradha chit fund scam in Baleswar district after more than 100 investors lodged complaints at the police stations in the district, apart from with the Crime Branch.
On the first day, the Crime Branch officials quizzed a few investors at the police headquarters of the district here. The officials asked various questions regarding deposit of money in the Saradha chit fund organisation.
The neighbouring West Bengal- based Saradha group had a route in Baleswar district. Offering false promise to the investors, the company had looted money which is being investigated by multiple probing agencies of the Central Government.
