Hundreds of investors from five western Odisha districts, who are duped by chit fund firms, staged protests here on Tuesday demanding quick return of their deposited money.
A rally was held at the Nari Seva Sadan here, where investors from Bargarh, Balangir, Sundargarh and Deogarh districts joined the gathering. The rally was attended by advisor of Aarthika Sansthamanankadwara Kshatigrastanka Milita Mancha (ASDKMM) Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, journalist Rabi Das and many leaders of opposition parties. The depositors gave an ultimatum to the State Government to pay them their money before the month of November of this year, failing which the ASDKMM would go against the Government all over the State during the coming panchayat elections.
Similar gatherings are scheduled to be held in Nayagarh on June 10 and in Baleswar on June 17.
The swindled investors would be identified at the tehsil level and blueprint would be prepared to put pressure on the chit fund scam judicial probe commission and the State Government to return their hard-earned money, sources said.
