A regional workshop and consultation of draft State policy of children’s rights was held here on Friday.
Representatives from as many as six coastal districts, mainly disaster-prone, participated and discussed several issues connecting to children rights. State Commission for Protection of Children Chairperson Kasturi Mahapatra, project director Biswajit Das, Children protection cell and draft committee chairman Ajit Mohanty, sub collector Subash Nathsharma and Professor Nabanita Rath attended the event as resource persons and spelt out that children rights is the main endeavour of the draft policy. It aims at protecting children from social evils, ill practices like child marriage, child labour and exploitation.
