A five-month-old baby boy sustained critical injuries and was hospitalised after being mauled by stray dogs in Keonjhar district on Thursday.
The baby, Sibana Munda, of Naibuga village under the Bamebari police station, was attacked by two stray dogs when the infant was sleeping on the verandah of the family’s house.
The child was critically injured and admitted to the Jhumpura Primary Health Centre. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital, from where he was referred to the Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack.
It may be recalled that a four-year-old boy had died after being attacked by dogs in a similar way in Puri district on December 1.
