Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik and Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra on Monday appeared before National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) chairman Pl Punia relating to the ill- treatment of tribal students by KIST authorities.
Appearing before the NCST, the Chief Secretary and the DGP furnished a factual report on a complaint lodged before the commission pertaining to the issue. According to the complaint, though KIST, Bhubaneswar has been providing education to a number of tribal students through its residential institute, basic amenities are not being provided to the students.
Besides, the KIST authorities have committed a fraud in availing huge financial assistance from the Union Government and other international bodies by giving false information that they are providing free education and boarding facilities to both ST and SC students.It was alleged that there were virtually no SC students in the institution.
