Police cracked the gruesome murder case of a girl, whose beheaded body was recovered from Malipada near the Chandaka forest, and arrested her lover Yudhisthir Swain on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Sasmita Biswal from the Satyabadi area of Puri district.
Sasmita had gone missing on December 13, following which her family members lodged a complaint with Satyabadi police. During investigation, the Satyabadi police recovered a marriage document from Sasmita’s house from which they came to know about Yudhistir, a youth of Delang area in Puri district.
But as Yudhistir went absconding, they detained his family members following which he surrendered before police. After intensive grilling he confessed that he and Sasmita were having a physical relationship, for which she had got pregnant.
But as she was pressuring him to marry him but as he had no intentions of marrying her, he lured her to come with him to come to Chandaka and then murdered her by slitting her throat. He dumped the body in one place and the severed part in another place. On the day, he led the police to the spot and described his modus operandi.
The Satyabadi and Chandaka police are carrying out further investigations to unravel whether any other accomplice or family members of the youth are involved in the case.
