Crimes vary from place to place. A border district like Jharsuguda also faces many challenges from inter-State criminals, bank robbers, highway loot, mineral theft etc., which has become a great challenge for the police force, said new Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police US Das at a Press conference on Saturday. However, all this would be tackled with expertise, he stated. Even with a limited police force in the district, the law and order situation would not be allowed to go out of control, he said. Reporters brought to the SP’s attention the burning problems like crimes committed by outside persons in the district, illegal transport of coal, political vandalism and extortion of ‘subscriptions’ by a vested group in the industrial area for immediate redressal.
The SP maintained that under his leadership, necessary steps would be taken by his staff to bring crimes under control within a short period. Citizens should also be careful and inform police about any criminal activities in their areas, he appealed. Das underlined his priorities to maintain law and order and ensure peace in the district.
