A Central team headed by Additional Secretary of Cabinet Secretariat Anil Swaroop undertook a second-phase review of big-investment projects at the Secretariat on Friday.
Earlier in the day, the 10-member team held discussions with senior State Government officials while inspecting progress of 12 projects pertaining to railways, mining, steel, coal and road and transport sectors. Assessment of another 10 projects would also be undertaken, said sources. Meanwhile, the high-level team expressed satisfaction over the State Government’s efforts to mitigate the challenges facing completion of the pending projects.
“I am happy to convey that the State Government has taken adequate initiatives to contain various hurdles on the way of these investments. There has been a significant progress in addressing the issue of land acquisition. The State officials are also positive with regard to obtaining forest clearances for these projects,” Swaroop said. He further said the outcome of the Central team’s endeavour would broaden the scope for initiatives to resolve the contentious issues causing delay in completion of the projects.
