Body of Central Excise Assistant Commissioner Arjun Kumar Dhal was found hanging in his house at Baramunda Housing Board Colony under the Khandagiri police station here on Sunday morning.
Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Dhal committed suicide due to depression. The body of Dhal hanging from the ceiling fan with the help of a bed-sheet was first spotted by his daughter.
“He was battling with depression from his college days and was under treatment. He had even applied from voluntary retirement around six months ago but was yet to be granted the same. He was not able to sleep properly for past 15 days,” said Dhal’s elder brother.
Police started an investigation after registering a case of unnatural death and sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of the death.
