The Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) at Roorkee, Uttar Pradesh will soon conduct an endoscopic photography of the world-famous Sun Temple at Konark to ascertain the condition of the monument’s interiors and also to ensure its proper conservation and safety.

According to sources, five robotic cameras will be inserted to the temple’s interior from four sides through its wall and also from the temple’s top. The project will start within three months. “The camera will take pictures of the interior condition of the Jagamohan which remains closed from all sides filled with sand,” sources said.

Earlier, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the custodian of the Unesco-declared world heritage site, had conducted 3D laser scanning of the world famous tourist destination to plan future conservation measures.
