The Special CBI Court here on Saturday allowed the CBI to take city-based builder Sagar Ray on a 12-day remand for further interrogation.

Ray was arrested on Friday in connection with the chit fund company Artha Tatwa (AT) Group. Though the CBI had requested the court for a 14-day remand, the court gave permission for a 12-day remand. Ray, one of the proprietors of the real estate firm Orison Properties ltd, had appeared before the CBI team thrice before arrest.

According to sources, the Central investigating agency might interrogate the builder about his association with AT group chief Pradeep Sethy and his companies.

It might ask Ray that how much money he and his builder friend Vineet lalani, who has also been arrested, had taken from the AT Group for their estate and construction businesses.

The sources further stated that the Orison Properties ltd had constructed an apartment at Sundarpada in the city using AT Group money. lalani has sold the apartment but did not repay the amount to the AT Group, the sources added.
