The Special CBI Court here on Friday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) permission to take tainted chit fund company Green Ray International limited chief Mir Shahiruddin on a further remand of three days.

This is the second phase remand of Sahiruddin, who has recently been arrested from Kolkata, after he went underground from 2013.

Shahiruddin was produced in the Special CBI Court after his first phase six-day remand ended on Friday, sources said. However, his lawyer Jitansu Sekhar Nandi said “He (Shahiruddin) is not involved in the case. The sections which have been imposed by the police and CBI officers are false.”

On February 6, Shahiruddin, who was nabbed in Kolkata, was brought here on a transit remand.

According to reports, Shahiruddin had floated a mining firm Green Ray Nigeria Company in 2013 and acquired an iron ore mine on lease in Nigeria.

He was hiding at Nigeria’s capital Abuja with his family after fleeing from the country.

Green Ray has allegedly swindled over Rs 500 crore from around 1.5 lakh customers in Odisha and over Rs 200 crore in Chhattisgarh. The company’s offices were sealed in Odisha in 2013.
