A CBI team led by SP Rajib Ranjan conducted a raid on the Visakhapatnam-based chit fund company Akshaya Gold Spanners Villa here on Monday.
The team also held a camp at the Big Bazaar police station and met both investors and agents of the company. Besides verifying their various documents, the CBI also collected information related to the chit fund firm. Around 50 depositors turned up and showed their documents. Many of them also filed written complaints to the CBI.
Notably, the company, opened at Sana Bazaar here in 2011, has duped many gullible people of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of doubling their deposited amounts after a year. The company downed its shutter in 2012.
