After conducting raids at the houses of deceased Bangalore IT professional Payal Surekha’s husband Anat Mishra and his friend James Kumar Ray in Cuttack and Kendrapada, respectively, on Tuesday, the special team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Chennai, which is investigating the sensational murder case, on Wednesday interrogated Payal’s husband and father-in-law here at the CBI office in Bhubaneswar.

“We are cooperating with the CBI wholeheartedly and have full faith in the investigating agency. I am confident that the truth will come to light soon,” said Anat Mishra. The team also interrogated Payal’s father-in-law Rudra Mishra.

Payal of Bongaigaon in Assam, an employee of Dell company, was brutally killed at her apartment in Bangalore on December 17, 2010.

Though the police first suspected her husband Anant Mishra, a native of Cuttack who was working as a gym instructor in Bangalore, to be behind the murder, they subsequently arrested her husband's business partner James Ray from Cuttack on December 21, 2010.

The Supreme Court in March this year directed the CBI to probe the case of Payal murder following a petition filed by Ray seeking such an inquiry, which was supported by the victim’s father.
