Asking the CBI to call Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma to depose before it in person in connection with the possession of the controversial Pajero SUV, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prasad Harichandan on Saturday said the Minister should tender his resignation at least on moral grounds.
“There is something wrong, as a result of which summons was issued to the Minister. Under such circumstances, the CBI should ask Sanjay Dasburma to appear before it personally for deposition and initiate investigation,” Harichandan told reporters in Balangir, where he was attending a membership drive of his party.
He said the Central investigating agency should start a probe into all the allegations levelled against Dasburma.
Maintaining that Dasburma has no moral right to continue as a people’s representative and as a Minister, the PCC chief demanded that the Minister himself appear before the investigating agency if he has anything to hide instead of submitting documents through his representatives.
On Friday, opposition Congress and BJP had alleged that that Dasburma had invested money earned from chit fund firms in five companies owned by his relatives.
