A four-member team of the Crime Branch (CB) which arrived here, held discussions with Gajapati SP Tapan Kumar Patnaik on Wednesday regarding the mysterious death of local Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.
The CB team led by DSP Bijay Kumar Malik would help the Gajapati police in expediting the probe into the case, which has grabbed headlines in the State and created a sensation.The Gajapati SP assured all help to the CB officials in their investigation. Initially, the CB team would visit the crime scene and scrutinise all the documents and evidence which are in the possession of the Paralakhemundi cops. The CB DSP said they can’t reveal any details regarding the investigations at this stage, as this would hamper investigations.
The Paralakhemundi police have already questioned Soumya’s wife Bidyabharati Panda at her parents’ house at Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj district and have also seized her mobile phone.
A technical team would scrutinise the mobile phone and look for clues. Police are confident that they would crack the case soon and ascertain what actually happened in the incident.
Presently, allegations and counter allegations are flying thick and fast, from both the sides and it is difficult to ascertain what the truth is.
